ST. JAMES—Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District (ORSWMD) in conjunction with Gasconade County will be working to clean-up an illegal dump off on county right-of-way along Roethmeyer Road, north of Owensville. The clean-up will be Feb. 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to assist with this effort.

Illegal dumping affects county citizens, especially if they reside near the dumpsites. Dumping affects wildlife, water sources and diminishes nearby property values. Unsafe disposal of chemicals or other pollutants can be a health hazard to local residents, especially if it leaches into the groundwater supply.

To volunteer, contact Kathryn Hawes at or by phone at 573-265-2993.
