Valarie McEuen, Penny Perriguey, and Kevin Koppelmann applied for a 2017 grant to use the food waste from the cafeteria to feed worms that are composting the organics and turning it into soil. That soil is then used to grow plants. The program is housed in a building provided by the grant next to the FFA greenhouse. This has provided a cross curricular program explaining the need for recycling. An after school club called working on recycling methods (W.O.R.M), look into and build projects using recycled materials such as pallet wood. Recently they started collecting rain runoff to use in the worm environment and the club has several more plans for next year.
